“Superman”: James Gunn announces sequel “Man of Tomorrow”

Los Angeles. In July, "Superman," directed by James Gunn (59), had a successful cinema release – now the blockbuster director is already announcing new plans for the "Man of Steel." The sequel, "Man of Tomorrow," will hit theaters in July 2027, Gunn announced on social media. On Instagram, he posted a comic book drawing showing Superman alongside his archenemy Lex Luthor.
American David Corenswet (32) wore the legendary superhero's blue and red costume for the first time in Gunn's "Superman," while Briton Nicholas Hoult (35) played the antagonist Lex Luthor. Gunn tagged the two actors in his post, who then also shared the announcement on their Instagram accounts. They would see each other on set soon, the director commented.
"Superman" has grossed more than $600 million worldwide since its theatrical release in July. Corenswet succeeded Briton Henry Cavill, who portrayed the DC hero in "Man of Steel" (2013), "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016), and "Justice League" (2017). Rachel Brosnahan played Superman's girlfriend, Lois Lane. Nothing was initially revealed about the plot or possible cast of "Man of Tomorrow."
